Nicole Riley is an entrepreneur, educator and activist with 15 years’ experience working in public schools. She is the Co-Owner and Vice President of the Sage Street Mill in North Bennington, Vermont. Nicole and her business partner provide communal live/work space for students, artists and entrepreneurs. Currently, she is on the board of Teachers Unite in New York City where she works with teachers, parents and youth in their fight for social and economic justice. She holds a master’s degree in education and was a Wellness Educator, Lead Teacher, Dean and Restorative Justice Coordinator at West Side High School in NYC for 13 years. She led a movement to change the climate and culture of the school by focusing on wellness and restorative practices. As a result, West Side High was chosen by the Mayor’s Office to be a mentor school and one of the five case study schools for promising practices in restorative justice. Additionally, the school earned national attention with a visit from Michelle Obama after earning a Gold Medal from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
Nicole lives with her wife in Manhattan, New York. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, traveling, creating art and bike riding.
